Project Professional 2010

An Unknown Error Has Occurred – Project Server 2010

I recently saw this error on Project Server 2010 when trying to access Tasks under My Work:

This was a little tricky to tie down but it was happening to everyine that had been assigned a task in a particular project.  I ensured the resources in the project were properly assigned in the pool (from the enterprise) via Project Professional 2010 but that did not solve it.

In the end I took a copy of the project and saved it locally, then completely removed the project on the server.  I then opened the local copy and republished – this seemed to solve the problem and we can all now access our tasks.

Your CreateWssSite job failed – Error ID: 18003

In my process of playing with Project Server 2010 and Project Professional 2010 I came across this error whilst setting up a new project via Project Professional and creating a new project site on the server.

The error came through via email:

Microsoft Project Server

—————————–

The reason this error came through is because of the way the development server is configured – we have a xxxxxx.xxxxxx.com address for it, but the server settings in Project Server show the server name xxx-xxxxxx-xx.  To workaround the issue I went in to Server Settings (in PWA) and then to “Project Site Provisioning Settings” in the section “Operational Policies” … or here:

Then I unticked “
